Types of Reflective Stickers

Classification by Grade and Material (Reflective Performance)

1. Advertising Grade / Commercial Grade Reflective Stickers

• Reflective Technology: Glass bead type. Provides basic reflective brightness; best suited for close-range viewing.

• Outdoor Lifespan: Approx. 1–3 years. Shorter weather resistance, but it is the most affordable and offers the highest cost-performance (CP) value.

• Material Characteristics: Thin and soft texture; excellent for printing, inkjet printing, or vinyl cutting.

• Common Applications:

  • Non-major lane warnings: Residential communities, school campuses (e.g., support pillars for awnings).

  • Daily & commercial advertising: Store signs, short-term event billboards, delivery boxes, and decorative motorcycle stickers.

2. Engineering Grade (EG) Reflective Stickers

• Reflective Technology: Enclosed glass bead type. Offers higher and more uniform brightness than commercial grade, with a wider reflective angle.

• Outdoor Lifespan: Approx. 3–5 years. Medium weather resistance; does not easily fade under sun and rain.

• Material Characteristics: Moderate thickness. Complies with standard traffic regulations in multiple countries (e.g., ASTM Type I), balancing excellent printability with adhesive stability.

• Common Applications:

  • Standard traffic signs: Urban road directional signs, street name signs, and speed limit signs.

  • Public facility warnings: Underground parking lot pillars, toll booth gates, temporary road construction signs, and anti-collision strips.

3. High-Intensity Grade (HI) Reflective Stickers

• Reflective Technology: The current mainstream has been upgraded to the micro-prismatic type (featuring a honeycomb appearance). Extremely bright at night, allowing clear recognition from long distances.

• Outdoor Lifespan: Approx. 7–10 years. Excellent weather resistance; UV-resistant and highly resistant to aging and fading.

• Material Characteristics: Brightness and lifespan are significantly improved compared to engineering grade. Complies with high-level transportation standards (e.g., ASTM Type III/IV), maintaining outstanding reflective feedback even during rainy nights with poor visibility.

• Common Applications:

  • High-traffic road signs: Main guiding and warning signs on expressways, provincial highways, and national highways.

  • Special vehicle identification: Safety reflective strips for police cars, engineering rescue vehicles, and ambulances.

  • High-risk zones: Warning signs along dangerous edges in factories, heavy industrial areas, large docks, and breakwaters.

4. Super High-Intensity Grade / Diamond Grade Reflective Stickers

• Reflective Technology: Micro-prismatic / Full-prismatic type (displays a distinct geometric crystalline lattice pattern). This is currently the highest-tier optical technology, with a light return rate close to 100%, delivering extreme brightness and ultra-long visibility distances at night.

• Outdoor Lifespan: Approx. 10–12 years. Top-tier weather resistance and highly wear-resistant; capable of enduring prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight, torrential rain, and extreme climates.

• Material Characteristics: Relatively thick and rigid. It offers the widest reflective angle (reflecting light clearly even when headlights strike at an oblique angle) and meets the highest international traffic specifications (e.g., ASTM Type XI), providing maximum advance warning time in darkness or adverse weather.

• Common Applications:

  • Critical traffic guidance: Highway signs, exit/diverging lane signs, and sharp/dangerous curve warnings.

  • High-risk & special vehicles: Regulatory reflective body strips for fire trucks, chemical tankers, and large semi-trucks.

  • Extreme environment safety: Markings around airport runways, unlit deep-mountain road sections, and marine breakwater warnings.

Classification by Appearance Pattern & Warning Function

1. Solid Color Reflective Stickers

• Colors: White, Yellow, Red, Blue, Green.

• Applications: Text for signs, background colors, and decorative motorcycle decals.

2. Chevron / Striped Warning Reflective Stickers

• Black & Yellow Stripes: International standard for "Caution / Hazard / Obstacle" markings (used on driveway entry/exit pillars, machinery edges, and steps).

• Red & White Stripes: International standard for "Prohibition / Firefighting / Restriction" markings (used for fire lanes, toll booth gates, and cylindrical pillar protection).

• Orange & White Stripes: Mostly used for road construction and temporary work zone fences.

3. Honeycomb / Prismatic Lattice Reflective Stickers

• Features: The surface displays a geometric, hexagonal pattern.

• Applications: Typically applied to High-Intensity grade or above labels. They are widely used for warning stickers requiring extreme visibility (such as bicycle frames, backpack accessories, and reflective patches).

4. Heavy-Duty Truck Reflective Conspicuity Tapes

• Features: Alternating red and white long strips, usually featuring an anti-counterfeiting security stamp.

• Applications: Specially applied to the sides and rear of heavy trucks, semi-trailers, and gravel trucks to prevent rear-end collisions at night (compliant with Taiwan VSCC or US DOT regulations).
